Lake Shore enters into agreement with SWISSto12 for THz waveguide technology
Lake Shore agreement with SWISSto12
Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc. and SWISSto12, SA announced today that they have entered into an exclusive agreement under which SWISSto12 will supply Lake Shore with purpose-specific terahertz (THz) waveguides based on SWISSto12’s patent-pending low-loss technology.

SWISSto12’s waveguide products enable high-frequency energy (from about 100 GHz to over 1 THz) to be transmitted efficiently over appreciable distances, a problem that has previously thwarted the application of these important frequencies.

To keep up with the ever-increasing demand for high-performance computing and communications bandwidth, the semiconductor industry must continually explore new semiconductor materials and develop new high-speed chip designs. Probe stations provide convenient precision platforms for early measurement of the performance of these new devices. Lake Shore plans to apply the SWISSto12 technology to its popular line of cryogenic probe stations, with the goal of introducing several THz frequency on-wafer probing solutions in the near future.
