Lake Shore announces that they are instituting a new service enabling customers to download Ethernet and instrument firmware and software updates to Lake Shore instruments in the field, without requiring returns to Lake Shore. These updates will be available to all users of Lake Shore instruments through the company’s website.
The first firmware upgrade offered is to the Model 336 cryogenic temperature controller, and can be accessed through the product page. The primary new feature is an added chart recorder utility, enabling users to log and chart data from the temperature controller via built-in software. Other updates include closed loop PID modes available on outputs 3 and 4, setpoint “press-and-hold” loading of current temperature to setpoint bypassing ramping, and added capacitance option card support. Lake Shore is offering this upgrade free to all current users of the Model 336 controller. The upgrades are available through a simple download, and are accompanied by detailed instructions on how to perform the upgrade. Additionally, all Lake Shore products come with a standard 3-year warranty.
“We are excited to offer these upgrades to our customers,” said David Plaga, Lake Shore’s Instruments Engineering Manager. “Our goal is to offer a convenient and efficient way for our customers to ensure their instruments are current, while posing minimal disruption to their research.”
